Imegen was present at the European Human Genetics Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark, 27th to 29th of May 2017.
Our international delegation to the event was composed of our scientific director, Javier Garcia, PhD, our head of Genetics, Maria Garcia, PhD, head of bioinformatics, Pablo Marin, PhD, and of the international team, Benigno Neira, Pharm D, Sami Azrak, PhD, and Anna Gomez, international customer service. Our delegation participated in various scientific talks and presented our latest genetic tests and molecular diagnostics services and kits.
The head of Bioinformatics, Pablo Marin, PhD, demonstrated our latest bioinformatics platform for NGS cancer analysis through a poster communication. The poster explained the development of an NGS bioinformatics platform for analysis of cancer targeted gene panels using paired samples (germinal-somatic) based in open source genomic software. This platform provides clinicians and geneticists an interactive tool for data management and visualization for filtering somatic variants involved in different types of tumor samples.
Various products from both our services and also kits portfolios received great positive reaction, “Our participation in ESHG 2017 has been very satisfying. Our exome panels together with QUIMERA digital and NextGeneDx kits received wide interest from various laboratories and distribution companies” explained Benigno Neira, PharmD, international business manager.
On the importance of IMEGEN participation in the event, commented Sami Azrak, PhD, international business manager: “The continuous participation in the European Human Genetics Conference is a top priority for IMEGEN; not only to widen our base of contacts as part of the internationalisation process of the company, but also to access the most updated knowledge and to exchange feedback in the field”.
The ESHG 2017 marks the 50th Anniversary of the first ESHG Conference which took place in Copenhagen in 1967.
The European Society of Human Genetics promotes research in basic and applied human and medical genetics and facilitates contact between all persons who share these aims. This international conference is a forum for all workers in human and medical genetics to review advances and develop research collaborations.
The conference has become one of the premier events in the field of human genetics with over 3.000 delegates, more than 250 oral presentations, 18 workshops and 8 educational sessions. The ESHG conference is where the latest developments in human genetics are discussed and where professionals from all parts of human genetics meet.
